Archaeological Site in A Box

This film is the first of several made by my Pop Culture Archaeology students this quarter.  The assignment was to create a video that communicated something (anything) about archaeology but also played on common pop archaeology stereotypes and clichés.  The class itself is based on one taught at the University of Washington.  I was a teaching assistant for the UW class  and thought it was a great approach to teaching students more about archaeology in a fun way.  We focus on the relationship between pop culture, archaeology, and modern society absorbing lots of pop archaeology (e.g. Indiana Jones, Lara Croft, Clan of the Cave Bears, Futurama, etc.).  I am lucky enough to be able to teach my own version of the class at PSU and am impressed with the films the students made this quarter.  More to come!
